About VTU
Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) is one of the largest and most prestigious technical universities in India, headquartered in Belagavi, Karnataka. Founded in 1998 by the Government of Karnataka, it is named after Sir M. Visvesvaraya, a celebrated engineer, statesman and Bharat Ratna awardee who remains an enduring symbol of excellence in Indian engineering.
VTU has earned the 3rd position in Karnataka in the NIRF rankings (National Institutional Ranking Framework, Ministry of Education, Government of India) under the engineering category. With over 182 affiliated colleges, one constituent college, and 25 autonomous colleges spread across the state, it serves lakhs of engineering students every academic year.
The university offers a wide range of programs including B.E., B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, MCA, and PhD across engineering, technology, management, and applied sciences. VTU follows a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and has introduced updated schemes (2021, 2022 and 2025) to keep its curriculum aligned with industry needs. With a strong focus on emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Robotics, and Renewable Energy, VTU continues to shape future-ready engineers.
